The Family is a film based on the book Malavita by Tonino Benacquista. The story is about a former Mob family that is in hiding in France after turning rat in the United States against his “family”. The movie had a good pace and is directed by Luc Besson and Executive Produced by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert DeNiro & Michelle Pfieffer along with Diana Agron, Tommy Lee Jones and John D’Leo. They move to Fraance to escpae the Mob contract out on them since Frank (DeNiro’s character) turned rat. They, however, find themseleves resolving their problems in the same way they did back in New York. The movie is full of violence and off color-humor though not grotesque. Frank is able to convey all emtions possible to humans in one word thoughout the entire movie, the word being “fuck”. It is used many times though the movie and no two times does it sound or mean the same thing. This was a fun movie to watch and lose yourself in for a few hours. DeNiro is always his best when he gets to play a role in this world as is shown over his career. I didn’t doubt the enjoyablility of it after seeing Martin Scorsese attach his name to it. The lesson here is no matter wher you put a “former” criminal the problems always follow them. From resolving issues the old way to being located by your old associates this movie keeps a nice pace and a good level of action. Definitely one to check out!
